Student Life Bible Study For A Balanced Long-Term Plan

8 September 2008 One Comment

For this Ministry Monday I have decided to share why I like Student Life Bible Study. I actually already did a post on this, but it had a bug and messed up my layout so I deleted it awhile back and wanted to get it back on here. Here’s why I like them and be sure to check out a free download from them:

Student Life Bible Study is an excellent 6 year material oriented program that gives your students a well rounded Biblical viewpoint by the time they are seniors.

Have you ever asked, What lesson am I going to be doing next? Maybe you are still trying to figure out what your students haven’t heard yet. Maybe you just go week to week with a hit or miss topical lesson plan. Maybe the past 3 years you have been looking at Romans and your students haven’t heard anything else.

You are probably seeing what I’m getting at. I have decided there is nothing wrong with doing that, but if you take a 7th grader and then fast forward to the time they are a senior what from the Bible do you want them to know? Were your lesson times just so so or were they deep engaging and fun?

I have learned over the years that it’s what we strongly believe in our minds that lead us towards actions. This isn’t always the case because of influence, but generally speaking you are going to do what you believe is true and so what “truth” is sitting in the minds of your students when they leave high school and go on into the college years?

With all that being said, I really like what Student Life Bible Study has done for helping you think and process and work through what you want your students to have when they leave. I hope that you visit them just to check it out, but here is what they do:

StudentLifeBibleStudy is…

  • Great lessons teaching and affirming essential biblical truths.
  • Lesson materials available online making preparation convenient for you and your small group leaders.
  • Your students seeing the “big picture” of God’s Word and a foundation to know what they believe.
  • Your teachers getting an exciting curriculum that’s easy to present and engaging for students.
  • As an administrator you can post announcements and e-mail your leaders all in one place.

Here’s a look at the year-long studies offered from StudentLifeBibleStudy:

YEAR 1: Christ: The Life of Christ – The Basis of Faith
YEAR 2:
Character: Old Testament People – Encounters with God
YEAR 3:
Community: New Testament Church – The Essence of Fellowship
YEAR 4:
Covenant: Knowing God – His Relationship with His People
YEAR 5:
Consecration: Set Apart for God – The Christ-empowered Life

Take an in-depth look at each of these volumes.

Now Available Year Round: An accelerated 28-week study of The Life of Christ.

Included in every lesson:

  • MULTIPLE TEACHING PLANS because every group is different
  • DRAMAS a fun, interactive way for students to learn biblical truths
  • PARENT PAGES a great resource for better family relationships
  • REVIEW QUESTIONS a good way to reinforce the biblical foundation presented in every lesson
  • COMMENTARY equips teachers to encourage understanding of an accurate biblical context
  • LESSON OVERVIEWS, STUDENT WORKSHEETS, and MORE

And since most folks are visual learners…

We’ve created additional resources to enhance your use of StudentLifeBibleStudy. Again, the purpose is to help your students grow in knowledge and understanding of God and His awesome, unchanging Word.

  • Student devotional journals
  • In-class student books
  • Maps
  • Timelines
  • Essential Truth posters
  • Videos/DVDs

Use these extras however you see best…with StudentLifeBibleStudy, you can create a customized environment for any teaching or learning style.

You may be saying that you don’t want to be so liturgical in the way that you run your youth ministry, but quite honestly you can tweak these lessons to fit your purpose and vision and style. I also think that after 6 years you would have what you need to do it again if you wanted though I know Student Life Bible Study would like to stay with them.

What do you do for your lesson plans and thinking long-term? Do you think in reverse meaning, what do I want my 7th grade students to have by the time they are seniors?
