One of my jr highers just had to show me a dunk and so I thought this would be the time for this youth ministry idea! So in light of the NCAA basketball that’s going on – have a creative dunk contest for your game time for youth ministry. You may actually be surprised at who wants to do it!

If you have more than one adjustable baketball hoop you can adjust the hoop so that it’s not intimidating for someone that is short and you can also divide it up girls and guys or Jr. high and Sr. high.

Have some music blasting for the fun action!

Make the adult leaders the judges and award a prize or candy to the winner/s

Make sure that you mention that it’s a creative dunk contest and so that’s where the points add up because even if one of them misses the dunk but it was totally creative you can still award points to them.

Alternatives:

• The week before mention that it’s a granny dunk contest (got to dress up as granny)
• Super hero dunk contest (have them come dressed as their favorite super hero)
• Sumo dunk contest (get em dressed as sumo wrestlers and see if they can dunk)
