Humans and Zombies

humans vs zombies

This game is a fun one to play outside just as it is starting to get a little dark. You can even create an atmosphere by playing it near a graveyard if possible (just remember to respect the cemetery by playing beside it not runnin through it).

Be sure to mark boundaries so students stay within the boundaries. It’s also fun if you set up lots of obstacles so its a little difficult to seeĀ  – outside trees do really well for this.

How to play:

select 1 or 2 to be zombies per 5-6 in your group so if you have 10 total – 2 would be zombies. Zombies are are trying to tag the humans and if a human is tagged then they become a zombie. The goal of the game is to remain human as long as possible. Once everyone has become a zombie then the game is over and you can replay if you wish.

Humans are able to throw balls (kickball/nerf) at the zombies and once a zombie is hit twice they have to do an up/down which is a football term for dropping to the ground on your stomach and then popping back up again. However, if a human who was converted into a zombie, because they got tagged, is hit once with a ball – they must do the up/down after only 1 hit so only the original or “Alpha” zombies have to do an up/down after being hit twice with a ball.

To identify who the zombies are – have the zombies place 1 hand on their head at all times (of course acting is fun too). The last ones to remain human get to become the Alpha zombies for the next round.

Alternate: Have the leaders be the Alpha zombies. You could even theme the evening to talk out of Ephesians 6 about putting on the armor of God and that are battle is not against flesh and blood but rather the unseen spiritual world.
