I’ve been living off of free for a long time and not that there is anything right or wrong about it, however I have decided to step out in faith to ask if you would consider a donation to help me redesign my site.

I know, it’s the “D” word. This word is just like the “F” word (fundraising of course - what were thinking?).

Now I have to create a case as to why you should give. That’s a great question because now I have to evaluate if Youth Ministry Ideas is worth it – I think that it is.

The following are some reasons why you should consider a donation from your youth budget:

FREE ideas – You can’t get any better than free right? I don’t mean the kind of free that is free for awhile and then later I charge you for access to my site.
Youth Ministry Ideas From the World – You can now register and submit what your game ideas are, lesson ideas, worship ideas, leadership ideas, and more all for free. I have one writer that is from the UK which many have clicked on his great material. My site isn’t limited to the states.
Freshness – Every week there is something new for you here to think about or use for your youth ministry. It’s nice to keep getting new ideas to keep you fresh.
Give-A-Ways – Anything from cash to gift cards will be given away to lucky email subscribers.
Video Demonstrations – My next project is to add video demonstrations and encouragement. These demonstrations will help you “see” how a game works or doesn’t – but hopefully works, leadership tips, encouragement. This will be a great future benefit.
Lessons – My site currently doesn’t have many lessons on here, but I will be adding powerpoint lessons along with my notes for you to tweak any way you like.
More – As more ideas become available I will share them with you.

Give whatever you believe you should give, but I want to make a suggestion that you consider spending a one time $10 out of your youth ministry budget. Currently I have between 250 – 270 subscribers and if each subscriber donated $10 I would have the necessary funds to complete this project. Plus, I have many more visitors that aren’t subscribers too.

Currently right now I’m in the 1st page of google for keywords, “youth ministry” and #1 for “youth ministry ideas” and I want to keep providing resources and fresh ideas to those in youth ministry and the new design will be sweet.

I highly suggest using your youth ministry budget because that what your budget is used for. I’m certain you have a curriculum or youth supplies category that you could tap into – there always is the miscellaneous category right;)

Any left over donations will be going back into the site as a prize or added feature. Thanks so much again for your participation. I’m looking forward to seeing the changes.

Youth Ministry Ideas Stats as of 4-18-08

October 27th, 2007, I posted about my stats with Youth Ministry Ideas. I wanted to give an update as to where I’m at now. I do realize that for many this isn’t important, but I wanted to share what’s going on with the site and also some things that I would like to see happen.

Below are some screen shots. Because I don’t want this post to be long, I have thumb-nailed them so click to see a bigger size. I will explain below each thumbnail what it means.

Above shows my referrers and top posts. You will notice that there is a variety of referrers which has always been true. This particular day was on a Wednesday which seems to be the highest visitors (lots of last minute youth ideas). You will also notice that my most visited post by far is the survivor lock-in. I basically spell out how I did the lock-in and you can download the schedule of the evening, different games I did, kind of prizes that I gave away and more. Since I posted, it is the most visited post.

Above is a picture that shows what people search for that brings up Youth Ministry Ideas. I have been very surprised that in google, I’m on the first page for “youth ministry lessons” as I have very few lessons on here (shhhhhh – don’t tell them). There are also many different terms that seems to pull up my site – amazing – and thanks wordpress:)

Other Stuff:

Biggest referral is Google because of keywords
Averaging about 450 page-views a day (Saturday is the worst day – about 200 and Wednesday the best 800 views)

LOGO – I would like to create an identity so if someone that reads is great at the photo-shop thing and has some time, please send me your idea on a logo for youth ministry ideas.
DESIGN – I’m looking into getting this redesigned with the new Logo. If you are talented at wordpress themes and have time, please contact me and let’s see what we can come up with.
YOUR IDEAS – What are you doing in youth ministry that you could share with other youth leaders? Let me know. Submit your ideas to me. I give credit where credit is do.

Above is a picture shot of my Blog Stats since April of this year. I do realize for those that come to Youth Ministry Ideas – you probably could care less as you’re here to gather ideas and resources for your youth ministry that you are leading. However, for those that blog, it’s always interesting to share some stats because most bloggers check stats very often.

Here’s my brief breakdown:

YouthPastor.com – this is because my posts show on their every time.
Google.com – my words that I use show up really well as I’m usually within the top 5 for keyword, “Youth Ministry Ideas”.
TimSchmoyer.com and Rethinkingyouth.blogspot.com

Youth Group Ideas
Youth Group Games

Many other specific phrases that seem to pull up my sight as well.

Besides these I discovered that on Google I’m on page 3 for the keyword, “Youth Ministry” which is estimated to be searched about 50k times a month using Google, MSN, and Yahoo combined.

As per goals stated HERE, I want to up the quality and diversity of this blog which means things will continually change and be updated. I really like the vision of having a youth worker or two in each state reporting back what youth ministry ideas are taking place currently in their state.

I do know this may mean getting this site hosted where I have complete control of it which means you may eventually see some advertising to off set cost of doing that because I want this to be a place for free ideas.
