I’m excited to play around and test out a new web based video editing site called We Video. Basics are shooting your video then uploading and making edits to it such as titles, music, transitions and other great features and then immediately you can post to your youtube account!

You can start using them for FREE to get the hang of it and they also have pricing plans for heavier video users. Although im featuring We Video – you may have also noticed in YouTube that there are other services out there to create videos so my challenge is for you to look into and try these techniques to help you create some videos for your youth ministry – you may just surprise yourself!

If you have a youth ministry intern or administrative assistant – this would be a great project for them to play around with and work on to see what they can come up with.

What video editing stuff do you use if any?

I have a youth ministry text service that is the best that I have seen for only $9.95 a month. This is an introductory offer and the service will eventually go up, but you can lock in at $9.95 if you contact me within the first 30 days of the date of this post.

What will the service do?

Unlimited number of people can join your text service

You can create unlimited groups: for example just parents, just middle school…..

Your students can reply to the group text

Send up to 500 texts to your group per month

Easy signup: They just text your group’s keyword to a 5 digit shortcode that you will get and then they are subscribed.

If you set up your groups a-head-of-time – you can have parents text your keyword with a .1 to join the parent texting group and have the youth join with .2 at the end of your keyword or vice versa.

95% of youth will read a text message within the first couple minutes they get it!

Using this service keeps both parents and youth informed and updated about what is going on from week to week and you can update them if there are any last minute changes. You can use it to send out follow-up thoughts or key-verses about your weekly talks, or just an encouragement note.

If you are interested in this service for your youth ministry, please:

Contact Me with any questions and I will call you to answer your questions and get you signed up. I will be prompt in contacting you about it.

This can be a great service to have your church sign up with and then you can use it for your youth ministry as a sub group of the church texting service. Maybe you already have a church text messaging service but it’s costing you an arm and a leg and you need to get into something more affordable.

I’m holding in my hand this years ConGRADulations CD and it’s a great gift for your graduates in youth ministry. Mark and I dicussed over the phone that this years colors even look cooler. Here’s what he had to say:

Get a FREE ConGRADulations! Class of 2010 (gift for graduating seniors) sample by going here: grad2010.com/free_grad. It is a low-cost but very impactful grad gift that includes a Music CD, Media DVD, and Grad Gift Book. More info is below…

With over 1,000,000 copies given to graduates by 25,000 churches, ConGRADulations! is the #1 grad gift of this decade, and this year it’s bigger and better than ever. It is a Music CD (19 songs from the top names in Christian music including Skillet, tobyMac, Flyleaf, Relient K, Lecrae, and #1 iTunes Mainstream Band Owl City), a Media DVD (over 1 hour of video with artist, author-speakers, and fellow grad video greetings and advice, grad books, and more), a 48 page Grad Gift Book and a Personalizable Gift Package! And a Ministry Resource Website (transition ministry weblinks, grad devotionals).

I’ve already previewed this years and it’s very good. I like the way they developed the book with the discs inside it and most importantly it’s a great gift to give for your seniors. So hurry up and get your copy so that you can see if it’s something you want to do for you seniors.

1. Plan from the beginning and much of the work could be done for you. Are you guilty of trying to pull off a last minute T-Shirt Miracle? Plan ahead and you can actually save yourself time and money while making the whole project more effective. Why not begin planning and designing your T-Shirts right along with your event promotions. Many T-Shirt shops will “give” you the design they have created for your shirts as long as you are printing the shirts through them. Why not use this free resource to your advantage? This way you can expand on the T-Shirt design, use it in multiple applications and multiply the effect of your message!
2. Don’t just make a T-shirt, Make a Point What is the purpose of the T-Shirt? Is it to communicate the theme, a scriptual concept, create curiosity, promote an event or just display your group identity? Its a simple question, but many people don’t take the time to ask. Make a short list of the mandatory wording and another of optional wording. Evaluate every word and try and make it as effective as possible. This is a great time to get feedback from your team and the students.
3. Know your audience? We all know how fast youth culture changes, so Instead of gravitating to what you think they will like take some time to do some recon. Scope out some stores or popular websites like Pac Sun, American Eagle, Old Navy or whatever stores your students shop at. These places spend millions to find out what will sell, so use them as a recourse when it comes to designing your T-Shirts.
4. Wanna Date? No you don’t. Generally, including a date on your shirts will just make them obsolete faster, so unless you have a specific reason for including a date its best to leave it off.
5. Use the right designer Usually it pays to go to a professional designer. They will have more dynamic design solutions and a better understanding of all the variable that make a design connect with the audience. Most good T-Shirt shops will be able to provide a designer or even free designs as long as you print your shirts with them. There may even be pre-made templates, if you don’t need to recreate the wheel, it’s best not to.
6. Use a quality printer A good printer can be your best friend. Ask around for referrals from people who are happy with their printer. If you are using someone for the first time make sure they have a money back guarantee, I hear too many stories of people who end up paying for shirts that they can’t use because they arrived late or were printed wrong. Once you find a good printer, stick with them, as the relationship grows and a true friendship develops communication gets better and the end product improves.
7. Get the Quantities Right Prices for printed apparel are based on quantity of each print run, so take your time and do your best to order your quantities accurately. You don’t want to end up needing to do a costly re-order later or end up with too many shirts, so it pays to be accuarate. Order just a few extra just to be safe.
8. Hype the new shirts! Create an unveiling, let the staff wear the shirts before they are available to the students or even use them as incentive for early event registration. Whatever you do, make sure it’s a BIG DEAL! Make sure all the presentations like posters, slides, videos, and web all reinforce the theme. The more the design is seen and the message is repeated the stronger it becomes and the more sought after the event and the shirts will become generating the excitement and enthusiasm your looking for!

If you are ready to take a look at a great T-Shirt company that can help you because of their experience – then visit MinistryGear.com today.
